Crosstown Comics

In 2022, I leased a small studio apartment in Crosstown Concourse – the only “vertical village” in Memphis, Tennessee.

There are lots of perks to living in a mixed-use development. As a remote worker, I now rarely need to use my car. Most everything I need is downstairs – or at least within walking distance of my building. I ride my bike more often and enjoy walking to and from my nearby grocer.

Crosstown Concourse is also home to a non-profit contemporary arts organization – Crosstown Arts. A weekend without live music is rare, and pop-up lunchtime performances are not uncommon in the main atrium.

It’s certainly a unique experience. When I moved in, I told my mom over the phone: “Crosstown will ruin me for all other apartment complexes – where else will I find seven bassoonists performing on a random Wednesday night?”

As a resident and an artist, I’m excited to document my experiences at Crosstown through comics, videos, writings, and more. Stay tuned!
