What’s happening to the Florida manatees?

As of August 6th, 905 manatee deaths have been recorded by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Many of these deaths have been attributed to the devastating impacts of nutrient pollution. Primarily, these pollutants come from agricultural runoff, stormwater and wastewater, and the burning of fossil fuels. In other words – it’s us.

Today, the future of manatees is uncertain. What will we do as a community to protect these treasured creatures?
